Danbury Area Chamber of Commerce

March 2008 Newsletter

The Danbury Area Chamber of Commerce met on Tuesday, March 4 at 9:00 a.m. at Bremer Bank.

Members present were:  Karen, Kristin, Judy, Paul, George, Jen and Linda.

Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Motion seconded, and all approve.

Treasurer’s report accepted as read with a balance of $1980.08.

Old Business:

SEH/Revitalization Committee:

*      It will cost us $3000 just for SEH to develop an application for the grants.  We went to the town meeting without knowing a dollar amount.  The town did not approve of that amount.

*      Judy spoke to the administrator of the city of Siren.  He will come to the next meeting to speak to us about how Siren went about revitalizing their downtown.

*      Jerry Pardun feels that this is something that we need to pursue.

Blood Drive:

*      The chicken will come from the Log Cabin for the workers.  There are usually about 10 dinners needed.

*      Wayne’s will have the chips, juice, and cookies.

*      Bank will donate the cups and napkins.  Karen will meet with April about getting those items.

*      Food:  Vera Krueger (Paul knows Vera, and will call her), Jen and Judy.

*      George, Jen, Judy, Karen, Kristin can be there to help that day.

Fishing Contest:

*      There were plenty of prizes.

*      There were a lot of fish too.  Biggest bass was 15# and the smallest fish was ¾”.

*      They sold a lot of the raffle tickets.

Easter Egg Hunt:

*      It will be at 11 am at the park or town hall.

*      We will fill eggs at 10 on the 21st at the town hall.

*      The bank is donating quarters.

*      We should have the kids come in the front door.

*      We got the individual bags of chips from Wayne’s last year; we will try to get them from them again this year.

*      Karen is still in charge of the sawdust pile.  She is going to donate that sawdust.

*      The Lions Club will be there to serve food again this year.

*      We still have $200 to spend for prizes and candy for the egg hunt.

Park:

*      The art teacher will not approach the students again about the sign until mid April—that is when he has his next art class.

*      Pam Brown, she works at Wayne’s, would be a possibility to make the sign.  She used to make professional signs.

*      Karen spoke with someone about logs for her new house.  We can speak to him about the new park building.

*      Dan Dyson is someone who may be interested in helping us with the project.

*      Send people to Judy to discuss the building.

Elections:

*      We are due for elections in April.

Recruitment Meeting:

*      Try for one in April.

Brochure:

*      Paul can help make a brochure.

*      Send Jen emails for any ideas.

New Business:

DMO-Destination Marketing Organization:

*      June 14th-21st-40th anniversary of the Wild River Act?

*      We were thinking of setting that as the date to dedicate our park 9on Thursday possibly).

*      The next meeting is Thursday, March 27th at 11:30 at the Lodge in Siren.

Home Sweet Home Show:

*      Royalty will be at the show to help greet people on Saturday, March 15th from 3-6.
